Tragic?
Pet peeve of the day (or early morning, if you will):
"Tragic". It has a meaning. A story is tragic if the main character's own flaws lead to their downfall. This comes to mind from looking at the reviews of Life Is Beautiful. It's called a "tragicomedy". Comedy it is, at points. But it's not a tragedy. Guido Orefice doesn't have flaws leading to his downfall.
"Tragic" does not mean "sad", dammit!
