Email from Excel

John Walkenbach notes a reference on sending email from Excel. Whoa! This is exactly what's wrong with Microsoft's approach to product features.

It should be that anyone who really needs to send email from Excel could have their VBA scripts load up a DLL just to send the email. Instead, Microsoft drops in the ability to send email, and now all of us pay the price of having a very abusable feature in our spreadsheet application even though we'll never use it. I can just imagine the next macro virus that uses Excel's email functionality to spread.
