Blog spam
Well, I think I'm mostly done with the upgrade to 3.2. I'm not sure about the theme, so expect it to change a bit.
I've been looking at the sequestered comment spam. While MT-Blacklist logged all the spam it junked, I never really looked at the activity log. With 3.2, I'm staring at the insanely large list of spam.
In 24 hours, I've collected 530 spam comments. That's 22 an hour, or roughly one every three minutes.
Thank goodness for open relay blacklists and keyword matching. Sorry if your legitimate website has “texas” or “holdem” in its URL; you'll hit the spam filter before you can even release your mouse button.

Man, after reading about how much spam MT is killing, I sure am glad I switched to Word Press a few months ago.
I went from getting tons of blog spam to none. You might want to check it out.

Well, since the spam is posted with robots, I'd imagine that they target MT installs because they know what cgis there are and how to call them. Thus, MT responded with anti-spam tools.
I'd be willing to venture that WP is no more secure against blog spam but that spammers don't bother because they have a bigger target with MT.
