7 miles in 3 days
Now that the holidays are over, I am officially in training. I'm training to run the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning along the parade route in downtown Detroit. It starts at about 7:30am and is 10K long (6.2 miles). My goal is to run it in less than an hour, which is completely doable for me. All during winter, I'm going to keep up the running b/c I'd like to run 5Ks and 10Ks the entire season. That way, when Spring comes along, I can start training for my marathon in Cincinnati (or somewhere in Ohio) in the fall.
I ran (jogged really) 2 miles on Friday, 2 miles on Saturday, and then had my "long" run today - 3 miles. I'm still kinda slow, but I'm feeling better. I can run 1.5 miles without getting tired, and that's an excellent start. My blisters are starting to come back (was wondering how long it would take for that to happen), but my lungs are adjusting well, and my legs are feeling great.
Also, every time I run, I feel my cholesterol go down (also a great thing!)... My highest number (last year sometime) was 300, and my most recent number was 250 (about 8 weeks ago) and my next appointment to check it out is in approximately two weeks so we'll see what happens. Wish me luck!
