Grammar lesson!

This has been bothering me more and more and I cannot hold it in any longer, so forgive me for venting. Specifically, I'm talking about people who try to sound more intelligent by using "better" grammar but are absolutely WRONG.
Example: "At the party, it's going to be John, I, and whoever else shows up." WRONG WRONG WRONG. First of all, don't be selfish - you come last in a sentence. Further, and I know I'm preaching to the choir, to know whether to use "I" or "me", eliminate everyone else in the sentence and see which one doesn't make you sound like an idiot.
Going back to our example: "At the party, it's going to be John, whoever else shows up, and me." If you eliminated the other party-goers you'd say, "At the party, it's going to be ME." If you said, "At the party, it's going to be I.." you'd sound like a moron. If you want to sound smart, do what the real smart people do - look up the rule before you try and follow it.
Come to think of it, when people try to sound smart and f*#@ it up, they sound like morons anyway.
Ok, that was my "who do I poop on today" moment... I feel a little better now (until I hear it again)... Thanks for listening and I'm sure someone out there will point out an error in my above diatribe (I just wonder how long it will take).
