San Francisco with Talya
I've been in Mountain View for about a month and a half now, and Talya decided to come and visit. We had a nice Shabbos, but decided to spend all of Sunday running around San Francisco.
Once I knew she was coming, I bought tickets for Alcatraz. We got up early in the morning, took the 9:30 boat in, and spent all morning wandering around looking at the prison cells.
We finally got back at about 1, we dropped by the car (all day, $15!) and had a lunch of salami sandwich buns. Mom had given Talya the AAA Tourbook which had a recommended walking tour, so we went and did that.
We cut around Washington Square, climbed Lombard to the Coit Tower, walked to Chinatown, shopped for souvenirs for the family, had dinner, and then hopped a cable car. The wrong cable car, actually, since we were supposed to be dropped off at the top of Lombard Street but ended up at the bottom.
We walked up. We walked down. Whose bright idea was that street?
So we headed back to the car, hopped in, packed all the souvenirs into the suitcases, and took the car to Lombard to drive the curvy road ourselves.
I had great fun. Catch you later, Talya.

I always recommend checking out the sea lions at Pier 39. It's a really cool view.

It was a great time! We actually got to see the sea lions - there weren't so many but was still great. I got pics of them.
The walking up and down Lombard Street was his idea, I think. But then, I didn't object either. My calves are *still* sore :).
The last quite humorous thing - the cable car we took was actually $5 per person (not $3 as we thought) and we only had $7 and change between us... OOPS. The guy let us stay on for the price of one. :D
I had a fabu time too... Wish I had more time there - ah well. Avi - keep touring!

What a great set of pictures! I especially like the last one of you and Avi. I showed it around the office :)
It looks like you both had a great time.
Btw, they don't make jails like they used to...
I love you guys soooooo much.

OOOH! I just reread this blog entry. HAHAHA! You weren't asking whose bright idea it was to WALK up and down... you were asking whose bright idea was the STREET! OooooH! Oops. :)
