Chrysler sold

The New York Times has a piece on the sale of Chrysler to Cerberus Capital Management. The most interesting part was the quote about the union:

But Ron Gettelfinger, the president of the United Automobile Workers union, said today that the deal “was in the best interests of our U.A.W. members, the Chrysler Group and Daimler.”

I'm truly impressed. Normally unions will insist on having everything their way, even if it means the destruction of their workers' employing company. Look at Detroit. The unions won; it didn't matter that they left their members out of work when they caused all the jobs to flee the area.

So congratulations, UAW. You've finally pulled your head out of your ass. Good start.

Should be very interesting to keep an eye on this.

I don't know about this buyout.
It's kind of hard not to cringe when the company buying Chrysler uses the name of the 3 headed hound that guarded the gates of Hades.
