Avi's Buttons

Once upon a time, Apple unleashed a technote of unparalleled arrogance and stupidity: Technote 2034. Not content with just posting my reply to mailing lists and filing it as a bug in Radar (closed as duplicate), I decided to hand out buttons at WWDC in protest.

So I got a button press.

You've probably seen the hand-press makers with the cheesy plastic rings in which it takes a minute to wrangle out a button. But I had funds (this was before I bought my house) and so I bought a stainless-steel press, capable of making professional quality buttons.

I've always intended to put my buttons online, and in fact, even my very first buttons had a sticker on their back with a website address. But it's been a blank page with an "under construction" notice for years.

No longer.

It's being written up in a blog format, very informally. (In fact, I'm using blog software, Blosxom. I'd use Movable Type, with which I'm much more familiar, except that this is a commercial endeavor, and I can't afford a license for it.)

Now, I'm not planning to make any money selling individual buttons. But this is just my way to let other people share in my fun.

Avi, why not Wordpress? http://wordpress.org It's awesome and free!

I did try it at http://www.opensourcecms.com/. Two things: one, it's massive overkill, and two, I couldn't see how to get it to configure entry permalinks based on their hierarchical categorization.

You can configure permalinks with a .htaccess file, mod_rewrite style, really simple.
