Thank G-d for Shabbos!
Yeah Friday! I'm so tired, I don't even think I averaged 6 hours sleep this week - maybe 5 and a half. Not good. I got paid this week, and even tho' I have direct deposit I need to walk this one over to the bank since it's the first check. Hopefully the next one will go straight there. Next I need to create a budget... a budget? What's that? Ha. Not so funny. I've been going through money like water. Not good. Need a new plan, quickly.
I want to wish Talya a welcome back from Japan, I wish I coulda joined you, but there was this job you see...
I also want to wish everyone a very Happy and Healthy New Year! A year full of happiness, good health, income and brocho (blessing). There should be peace for Jews around the world and especially Israel.
Rosh Hashana is the day that Adam (the first man) was created. I believe that the first thing he did was to recognize G-d as his creator and creator of the universe. This is the message of Rosh Hashana. This is the time when we too recognize G-d as involved in our day to day lives as well as King of the universe. Sometimes it is easier to believe that G-d is the creator the universe than to believe that He is interested in what we do during our daily lives. But that is exactly the point... Rosh Hashana is when we as a People and as individuals coronate G-d as King. I heard last week that one of the reasons that we do Tashlich (when we go to a body of water between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur) is that in the times of the Torah the way that a King was coronated was with water, and since that is what Rosh Hashana is all about -- we too go to a body of water to coronate G-d as King over our personal lives and actions.
All the very best to everyone out there - remember this is a New Year for the entire world (not just Jews) - may you all be blessed with good things and be able to recognize these blessings as "good".
Shana Tova.

Rabbi Artscroll has corrected me (I noticed this on Rosh Hashana when I was doing Tashlich)... in ancient times Kings were not coronated with water, rather - they were crowned at the riverbank.
