NetNewsWire hangs
I love NetNewsWire for my aggregation needs. I use it nearly every day. But it's been hanging terribly on me, constantly. I'll be browsing away, reading stories, when it'll lock up. And stay locked up for half a minute. I'll switch to another app, and keep peeking back to see if it's unlocked.
I started throwing Spin Control at it to see what it found.
These are very constant hangs. If you take a look at the backtrace, they're all the same:
3847 __NSFireTimer
3665 -[NetNewsWire(UI) handleMinuteTimer:]
3665 -[RSDataSourceController cacheDirtySourcesToDisk]
3665 -[RSDataSource(DiskCache) saveXMLToDisk]
3014 -[NSDictionary writeToFile:atomically:]
NetNewsWire's doing some very heavy flushing on a RunLoop timer on the main thread, blocking the UI. It's incredibly painful for me as a user to endure, and I'm nearing my breaking point.
I used to file bugs at Ranchero's site, and would always get some kind of a quick reply. But now the official path is through NewsGator, and the emails that I send with these backtraces disappear with never any reply.
What to do?
Comments
Hi Avi -- I found your email to NewsGator support: case 47975. The no-response was entirely my fault, not the fault of the support folks. I apologize. (It was assigned to me and I erroneously marked it as responded-to.)
You may be glad to hear that there is a note (written by me) in this case that says "Fixed as of 2.1a5."
If you'd like to help test the current beta, just email me privately. (It's in private testing for now. We plan to do a public beta after some more bugs are fixed.)

Spin Control looks terrific, but I don't have the dev tools loaded. Would you mind emailing it to me?
Many thanks in advance!
