Stupid Rosetta
I got a new Black MacBook (ooooh), and it works great. Every so often, though, when launching non-Universal apps, they'll crash on launch with:
EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001) KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS (0x0001) at 0xffdff1e0 Thread 0 Crashed: 0 0xb8000000 + 504121 1 0xb8000000 + 586874 2 spin_lock_wrapper + 4852
[sigh] It's Rosetta of course, and the quick way to fix it is to go into the terminal and kill Rosetta: sudo killall translated
. I don't like that, though. Apple, can you fix it?

Not with the information you provided, no. Include a full crash log. The part you provided is the native backtrace, which usually isn't very helpful.

Grr... Darn, I'll have to wait until it dies again.
But when Rosetta's in this state, it dies no matter what PPC app I run.

Ah, yes, the joys of the native backtrace.
I haven't seen that much on our Intel iMac, luckily. What I am seeing is very weird: Looks like GetProcessInformation is failing sporadically, but only in our Quark XTensions under Rosetta. Be glad you're not mucking around in plugins anymore :-)
Wonder if Google will need to hire any janitors here in Ann Arbor. Then I'd have a chance...

Welcome to the Ebony MacBook club! Are you constantly wiping fingerprints from its matte finish as I am?

[sigh] Yeah, I am. They have a supply of screen wipes at work, so I use those. Still a pain, but better than the staining some report with the white ones, eh?
